Treating Swamp Crassula – Aquatic Weed

Q. Hi, I have enclosed a photo of weed growing in our farm dam could you identify it and do you have any products that could deal with it?

Answer:

It looks like you have Crassula Helmsii (Swamp Crassula) which is native to Australia. This is an emergent weed and eaten by water birds. It tends to like still and slow-flowing waterbodies and is very invasive and will dominate your water body. With its density it can reduce water oxygen levels and the thick mats it creates can be very difficult to treat.

We would recommend AQ200 + wetting agent, but there is a withholding period of 10 days after treatment of the water.

Here are the sizes the bundle is available in and the area that each size treats:

1L of AQ200 + 500mL Wetting Agent will cover between 250m2 – 500m2 of surface area.

5L of AQ200 + 2L Wetting Agent will cover between 1250m2 – 2500m2 of surface area.

20L of AQ200 + 7.5L Wetting Agent will cover between 5000m2 – 10,000m2 of surface area.

Also, the application is as follows:

Apply at a rate of 400mL AQ200 Aquatic Herbicide plus 150mL wetting agent mixed with 100L of town/tank water using a spray unit. Use a shower spray to well wet/saturate targeted aquatic weeds directly.

1L of AQ200 mixed with 500mL of wetting agent and the required amount of water will give you a mixture of approximately 250L, which is enough to cover between 250m2 – 500m2 of surface area depending on aquatic weed density and coverage.

5L of AQ200 mixed with 2L of wetting agent and the required amount of water will give you a mixture of approximately 1250L, which is enough to cover between 1250m2 – 2500m2 of surface area depending on aquatic weed density and coverage.

20L of AQ200 mixed with 7.5L of wetting agent and the required amount of water will give you a mixture of approximately 5030L, which is enough to cover between 5000m2 – 10,000m2 of surface area depending on aquatic weed density and coverage.
