How It Works?
Improves water quality
While most phosphorus-removing products require water to work, Phosflow will work in all types of water bodies including those with a plastic liner, cement base, or non-porous base. This makes it ideal for improving water quality in aquaculture ponds or waterbodies with large fish numbers where high fish waste is present.
Unique Design
Phosflow contains special phosphate-capturing beads held in a water permeable pouch. This unique design allows water to flow through easily, for maximising the removal of phosphorus from your water. Phosflow will capture and hold free phosphorus in the water, making it unavailable for uptake by weeds and algae.
Biodegradable
The Phosflow beads are bio-degradable and environmentally friendly. Once the Phosflow has done its job, the beads can be used as a slow release fertiliser or in composting.
How much phosphorus is too much?
To avoid eutrophication and to reduce problems with weeds and algae, the phosphorus concentration of water must not exceed 0.05mg/L (ppm). Above this level, phosphorus will affect the natural balance of the environment and affect water quality. Dams with high phosphorus are usually covered in free-floating red Azolla, or experience similar weed problems. Phosflow is able to remove 0.2mg/L of phosphorus from water. This is equivalent to removing 4x the maximum recommended amount of phosphorus in water.
