How it works

Water with excessive algae growth appears pea-green and has floating scums. Copper Sulfate Aquatic Algaecide will kill this algae, and is recommended for use only if your waterbody is aesthetic or contains water not used for drinking, irrigation or livestock. Please note that water must be below pH 8 for Copper Sulfate Aquatic Algaecide to be effective.

Method of application

Dilute the measured amount of Copper Sulfate: 1-part Copper Sulfate to 10-parts water. Once diluted, apply as evenly as possible over the water’s surface.

How to use

Where to Use How Much to Use Surface Area Treated (m²) How Often to Apply
Enclosed water bodies without fish, where the water has NOT been used for human consumption, stock watering or irrigation purposes Apply 8L to 16L of Copper Sulfate Aquatic Algaecide per 1,000 square metres of water surface area at an average depth of 1m or greater, OR 10L to 20L of Copper Sulfate Aquatic Algaecide per 1ML of water. Dilute the measured amount of Copper Sulfate: 1-part Copper Sulfate to 10-parts water. Once diluted, apply evenly as possible over the water's surface. For dense infestations, reapply after 10 - 14 days OR as necessary.
For Best Results:
Apply Copper Sulfate Aquatic Algaecide in bright sunlight on a calm, wind-free day as evenly as possible to the water's surface.

Protection of Fish, Livestock, Wildlife and Others:
  • DO NOT treat water containing trout or sensitive wildlife.
  • DO NOT treat if the water's surface temperature is below 16°C.
  • DO NOT treat dams used for drinking purposes by livestock.
  • DO NOT use on areas where large numbers of waterfowl are foraging on filamentous algae.
