AUGreenclear was the first thing we have found that worked on string algae
We have a 5 month old 200 square metre living pond, and it has two carefully raised lungfish (yes, microchipped etc) that we cherish. We were spending about an hour a day manually removing string algae, and hadn’t found anything which effectively worked. However, we are still using beneficial bacteria, barley straw extract, Zeolite (that does make a difference), and the stuff to feed diatoms. We have a filter pushing 70,000 litres an hour and lots of plants but still getting those established. There are also lots of small shrimps and tiny fish. Within an hour or two of applying the greenclear, the string algae had disintegrated into tiny pieces which were being taken into the filter. Within about 6 hours those had cleared, and I would guess the algae had reduced by about 80%. That was a week ago. Since then it hasnt returned, and we dont have the large handfuls at the base of plants to remove. Hand removal now is only a tiny bit aesthetically, and it doesnt appear to be growing anymore. That is the pond itself. The wetland area had a lot of algae - full sun, shallow and hot. I am about to give that the same treatment, but great to finally have a solution. And no fish or plants were affected. We used it at about 70% recommended levels.
