It has hollow upright cylinder-shaped deep-green foliage that tapers to an erect spike at the top of the plant and vary from light green to light brown. Flowers are white and stringy in appearance. Typically 0.5-2 m high, to 5 m in deep water.
It typically occurs in water or wet soil, seepage areas, freshwater lakes, creek-beds, swamps, lake margins and along watercourses.
Reproduces via seed. Flowering time: November – February.
Spread via seed.
