How to deal with Tannins in a water body

Q. Do you have a product to get rid of tannins in a dam?

Answer:

Unfortunately tannins cannot be filtered or flocculated out, as they are like a dye in the water.

What are Tannins?

Tannins are decayed organic matter, like leaves, soil, grass, twigs, bark these tanins then dissovle into your dam water and over time this buildup creates that brown colour.

Tannins are broken down over time by exposure to UV light so normal sun light.

So really there are only two things you can do including adding a blue dye to overcome the colour of the tannins and or use Muck Breaker to break down the decaying matter in the bottom of the dam reducing tannins coming through into the water.
