Even adding much more than recommended, the duck pond is putrid in less than a week

We have a holiday home with a large pond so can't be there all the time. The barley straw liquid is pumped in automatically once a week and this keeps the pond clear of excess algae. The best thing is the fish are not harmed and have clean water to live in.
